M-Tech is founded as M-Tech Mechanical, a consulting engineering partnership focussing on specialized consultation work in the fields of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, computational mechanics and thermal-fluid systems design, as well as the development of the advanced thermal-fluid network code (then called) Flownet.
The owners of M-Tech start the company Enerflow Technologies (Pty) Ltd. that focuses on the design and manufacturing of heat pumps for the large scale heating (and/or cooling) of sanitary water for buildings such as hotels, old age homes and university residences. Enerflow later merges with M-Tech.
M-Tech is incorporated as a private company with limited liability and the name is officially changed to M-Tech Industrial (Pty) Ltd.
M-Tech achieves ISO 9001:1994 certification (with re-certification every three years ever since).
Enerflow Technologies, which would later merge with M-Tech, wins the coveted Eskom (Eta) Award for the best energy efficient design in the commercial sector.
M-Tech plays a key role in the design and record-time construction of the PebbleBed Micro Model (PBMM), that successfully demonstrated the operability of the closed three-shaft recuperated Brayton cycle. This cycle is similar to the one initially
proposed for the PBMR.
M-Tech secures a contract from the PBMR company for the design and construction of the PBMR High Temperature Test Unit (HTTU).
M-Tech is appointed as member of the Westinghouse consortium that wins the
tender for the pre-conceptual design of the USA Next Generation Nuclear Power
Royal Bafokeng Holdings obtains a 25.1% share in M-Tech.
M-Tech obtains its first official BBBEE scorecard with a Level 3 contributor score.
M-Tech is appointed to Eskom’s Panel B to provide owner's engineering services to Eskom for their coal, gas and hydro new build program.
M-Tech successfully completes an Innovation Fund Project to develop an Industrial Plant Simulator platform (using Flownex® SE as its thermal fluid solver), that is used in engineering and operator training simulators developments for various thermal-fluid systems such as power stations.
M-Tech is audited by Westinghouse Electric Company of the USA based on NQA-1 requirements and subsequently listed on its suppliers list for Engineering Design of Test Facilities for nuclear power plant applications.
M-Tech completes the testing of the High Temperature Test Unit for PBMR with approximately 40,000 injury free operational hours for this 1,600ºC facility.
M-Tech achieves ISO 9001:2008 certification.
M-Tech releases Flownex® SE (Simulation Environment), a new enhanced version of Flownex that enables users to do multi-disciplinary simulations using an open architecture aimed at leveraging the power of parallel processing.
The first 300kW Air Cooling Unit (ACU) prototype is installed at AngloGold Mponeng mine, for a test phase.
Mediclinic decides to retrofit all of its South African hospitals with Enerflow heat pumps. Several projects for Mediclinic to this extent is undertaken in 2010-2011.
M-Tech secures a DSM contract from Eskom to perform an energy efficiency project at AngloGold Ashanti, involving heat pump retrofit installations at various AngloGold mines (at that stage the biggest heat pump project of its kind ever executed in South Africa).
AngloGold Ashanti is the runner-up for the ESKOM eta award in the industrial energy efficiency category based on their compressor and pipe optimisation project. This project made use of M-Tech’s Flownex simulation software suite.
The ESKOM industry energy efficiency champion eta award is won by James Cruickshank of the Medi-Clinic group. His showcase project inter alia included Enerflow water heating heat pumps that are locally manufactured and supplied by M-Tech.
M-Tech once again achieves a Level 3 BBBEE scorecard.
The Generation Engineering Design Infrastructure (GEDI) project, which was executed with significant M-Tech involvement, is awarded the Eskom Group Technology Manager's Award in the Vision category.
M-Tech is awarded the Southern African agency for IDE Technologies Ltd., a world leader in water desalination (including industrial, municipal, sea water).
M-Tech contributes to the start-up of Enerflow Installations 1, now a subsidiary
company, in which the workers' trust also holds shares. Enerflow Installations is
mainly involved in large scale residential heat pump project installations.
Royal Bafokeng Holdings (Pty) Ltd (RBH) increases its shareholding in M-Tech from
25.1% to 50.1%. M-Tech becomes a black-owned company.
M-Tech, as key supplier to Lonmin PLC, volunteered tobecome involved at the Grace Care Centre, a place of safety for abused woman and children from the informal
settlements surrounding Mooinooi. M-Tech's heat pum pinstallation contributed towards sustainable efforts enabling the centre to reduce operational costs by reducing the monthly electricity bill.
Flownex expanded to include two-phase flow, expanded heat transfer, trace elements, RELAP Coupling.
Flownex expanded to include gas turbine secondary flow modelling, steam turbine modelling, GIS importing and coordinate system drawing, supersonic flow, simplified scripting, visualization & graphing, 3D drawing & importing.
Establishment of new division for Maintenance and Support of installed heat pump equipment and Mine mobile refrigeration units.
